GBase Joins Sugon & VMware Joint Lab to Welcome the Singularity Breakthrough in Computing Technology

On July 11, the Sugon & VMware Joint Lab was officially established in Beijing. GBase, together with five other organizations, became the first ISVs to join. During the launch ceremony, Sugon and VMware presented the first residency certificates to executives from the six ISVs.

Today, computing technology has seen revolutionary iterations and performance leaps in both chips and storage. However, memory, sitting between the two, has long failed to achieve a technological breakthrough. In particular, the performance gap between memory and storage has become a singularity that holds back the next level of computing technology.

Recently, this singularity is about to be overcome. The industry has invented the revolutionary Optane technology, a non-volatile memory device based on 3D XPoint media that appears in the form of NVDIMM and can be accessed at the bit level. By inserting non-volatile storage into the memory channel, it combines the high performance of memory with the non-volatility of storage. Intel, the international chip manufacturer, is set to launch its developed product next year, with speeds expected to be 1,000 times that of flash, density ten times that of traditional storage, and cost half that of memory.

Based on their strong foundation of cooperation and a shared recognition of the enormous market value of non-volatile memory products, Sugon and VMware decided to jointly establish the lab. Leveraging the products and technical strengths of both parties, they will simulate non-volatile memory products within the lab, and invite Chinese ISV software vendors to join the lab, giving them early access to the revolutionary Optane technology. They will collaborate with Sugon and VMware technical teams to optimize their software products, driving performance leaps and product innovation.
