China Insurance Regulatory Commission Visits GBase to Discuss Insurance Big Data Applications
On January 5, Chen Wenhui, Vice Chairman of the China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC), He Hao, Deputy Director of the Property Insurance Department of CIRC, Jiang Xianxue, Director of the Tianjin Bureau of CIRC, and Dai Yongkang, Deputy Director of the Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Commission, led a delegation of nine to visit GBase (General Data Technology Co., Ltd.). Dr. Cui Weili, Chairman and CEO, Dr. Wu Xin, Senior Vice President and CTO, and Ms. Dong Ying, Vice President of GBase, received the CIRC delegation.
CIRC Explores Insurance Big Data Solutions
The insurance industry possesses extensive big data processing environments, vast transaction information, and diverse insurance data. Over time, data volumes have exceeded hundreds of millions of records. If harnessed for analytics and decision-making, this valuable data can generate significant added value.
Leveraging big data and other cutting-edge technologies to address industry challenges and drive business growth is currently the insurance sector’s most pressing need.
Analytical Database Powers Insurance Big Data
As an analytical big data database, GBase 8a already can compete directly with leading global database providers in large-scale analytical applications. Today, GBase 8a powers numerous ultra-large clusters of 300 and 400 nodes, and is deployed at scale across over ten industries, including finance, telecommunications, government, and security.
Dr. Wu Xin noted that GBase’s collaboration with the insurance industry will be conducted through insurance-sector partners. By working closely with industry experts, we will deploy high-quality Chinese database technology in insurance, enhancing the industry’s big data processing capabilities while safeguarding national information security.
GBase Success Stories in Insurance
Sunshine Insurance Group Data Query and Analysis System
Efficient Query and Analysis of Massive Data
In the era of big data, Sunshine Insurance Group is actively embracing new concepts and technologies to mine data value, enabling timely and accurate analysis and decision-making, and continuously boosting its competitiveness. The group’s legacy analytical systems relied on traditional databases that could no longer meet the performance demands of massive data query, analysis, and mining.
To address Sunshine Insurance’s requirements for massive data querying, analysis, and mining, the GBase 8a MPP Cluster—a large-scale, distributed, parallel database cluster system—was adopted for the data platform. The GBase 8a MPP Cluster database handles massive data loading, base data integration, and common processing, building subject-oriented data mining marts that fully support the group’s analytical applications and decision-making needs.
After going live, the platform has supported multiple high-level applications:
■ Analyzing historical policy, customer, transaction, and financial data to increase the efficiency of new business development;
■ Selecting optimal insurance products based on coverage type, payment period, policyholder occupation, annual income, and age group;
■ Analyzing target audiences for insurance products in depth through big data combination and mining.
