GBase Powers Urban Rail, Journeys with You.
On February 28, the "2023 Rail Transit AFC System Innovation Development Seminar" was successfully held at the Shenyun Depot of Shenzhen Metro. GBase, as the database supplier for Shenzhen Metro's AFC system, delivered a keynote speech and engaged in in-depth discussions with experts and enterprise representatives on the innovative development of rail transit AFC systems.
Urban rail transit is a vital component of infrastructure, and its informatization level is a key indicator of its development. The Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system, based on computer, communication, network, and automatic control technologies, automates the entire process of ticket selling, ticket checking, fare calculation, fee collection, statistics, clearing, and management. As a service window for urban rail transit, it directly interacts with passengers and serves as the informatization starting point for rail transit operations.
In recent years, with the continuous emergence of new technologies such as the Internet, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, the AFC industry has experienced rapid development. As technology evolves rapidly, integrating AFC systems with cutting-edge applications to provide passengers with more convenient and efficient travel services while improving operational efficiency and management for transit operators remains the ongoing direction and goal of the entire industry.
At the seminar, Zhao Jie, Director of the Energy and Transportation Market Department at GBase, gave a presentation titled "How a China-Developed Database Supports Shenzhen Metro AFC System Construction." He provided a detailed analysis of the construction background and technical challenges of the Shenzhen Metro ACC and CLC Phase II project. During the project, the technical team leveraged the characteristics of Shenzhen Metro lines and central applications, fully utilizing the shared storage cluster advantages of the GBase 8s database. Relying on technical expertise and implementation experience, they designed a reasonable and reliable data architecture (SSC+HAC), leading to the successful launch of the Shenzhen Metro project. By the end of 2022, Shenzhen Metro operated 17 lines spanning 559 kilometers, with a daily peak passenger flow of 8.5771 million trips. The GBase database supports the efficient operation of core systems including AFC, ACC, CLC, and online ticketing, providing efficient, convenient, and stable metro services for the public.
Since expanding into the rail transit industry in 2016, GBase database has been deployed in over 20 cities over 50 lines, including Shenzhen, Chongqing, Xi'an, Chengdu, Zhengzhou, and Hohhot, ensuring stable operations of various rail transit systems with high-quality products and services, earning full recognition from project owners and system integrators.
