[GBASE Ecosystem] GBASE and XSKY Launch Joint Solution for True Compute-Storage Separation Data Processing
Recently, GBase and XSKY jointly released a solution for the GBase 8s database based on XSKY XEBS, adopting an advanced architecture with compute and storage separation. The system’s compute nodes and storage nodes are deployed separately, each with independent scalability and the ability for smooth upgrade and evolution. After product adaptation, testing, and targeted optimization, GBase 8s deployed on XSKY XEBS not only perfectly meets the data access performance and stability requirements in traditional OLTP scenarios, but also delivers superior performance compared to a standalone all-flash array architecture in high availability deployment mode, fully reflecting the powerful performance, high scalability, and more finely controllable total cost of ownership (TCO) brought by the compute-storage separation architecture.
Validated tests show that the joint solution delivers more stable performance than traditional deployment methods. The standalone performance is comparable to that of a physical machine with an all-flash array of the same level. When using high availability deployment, the performance of GBase 8s on XSKY XEBS is far superior to that of an all-flash array architecture.
GBase is a leading enterprise in China's database industry. The Annual Report on China's Platform Software Market Research released by CCID Consulting has ranked the company as the 'No.1 Domestic Database Brand' for six consecutive years. In Gartner's 2018 Magic Quadrant for Data Management, GBase, together with Huawei and Alibaba, were the only three companies from Asia to be included, ranking among the world's top 22. GBase 8s is a secure database product with fully independent intellectual property rights developed by GBase. It offers equivalent functionality, performance, and stability as foreign databases and has been deployed in core transaction systems across industries such as finance, telecommunications, power, energy, transportation, and government.
XSKY is a high-tech enterprise focusing on Software Defined Infrastructure (SDI). According to IDC's '2018Q4 China SDS Market Overview,' XSKY ranked fourth in China's overall software-defined storage (SDS) market revenue in 2018, with the No.1 position in the object storage segment (24.3%) and No.3 in the block storage segment (15.4%). XEBS is an enterprise-grade distributed software-defined block storage solution provided by XSKY, with deep performance optimization and significant improvements in reliability, usability, and manageability, achieving 24/7 automated operations. It not only supports telecom operators in building storage resource pools of tens of petabytes or more, but also helps enterprises deploy cost-controllable small-scale horizontally scalable storage, integrate or replace existing mid-range storage facilities, or build application convergence solutions to support various OLTP or OLAP business applications. As a new generation distributed block storage product, XEBS is suitable for a wider range of application scenarios.
The adaptation and integration of GBase 8s with XSKY XEBS provide customers with a comprehensive data storage and management solution. Through product testing and targeted optimization, the viability of deploying OLTP databases on software-defined storage has been validated, and the powerful performance, high scalability, and finely controllable TCO brought by the compute-storage separation architecture have been fully demonstrated. When customers choose the GBase 8s and XSKY XEBS combined solution, they can eliminate excessive costs associated with feasibility assessments for data management, storage, and expansion, as well as system tuning, allowing them to focus more on key business metrics and laying a solid foundation for overall project success.
