GBase 8s's new secure database has achieved MLPS Level 4 certification.
Recently, GBase's new GBase 8s secure database successfully passed the MLPS Level 4 certification conducted by the Information Security Product Testing Center and the Computer Information System Security Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Center of the Ministry of Public Security, and obtained a sales license for computer information system security products.
As a mature, enterprise-grade, high-end secure database, after nearly two years of version evolution, the new GBase 8s product delivers significant enhancements in security functionality, as well as major improvements in performance architecture and high availability architecture compared to its predecessor (which also achieved MLPS Level 4). It is a fully proprietary, high-end secure database that combines high security, high performance, and high availability.
GBase 8s secure database is primarily designed for classified information systems, systems rated Level 3 and above under MLPS requirements, core information systems in pillar industries of the national economy, and other environments that demand high-security data management.
A Security Database Compliant with MLPS Level 4 — Structured Protection Grade
GBase 8s strictly adheres to GB/T 20273-2006, “Information Security Technology — Security Technical Requirements for Database Management Systems.” It employs semi-formal development and verification methods to achieve Level 4 structured protection. The database provides a comprehensive set of security features, including data transmission encryption, storage encryption, identity authentication, discretionary access control, security labeling, mandatory access control, security auditing, data integrity protection, separation of duties, and inference control. These capabilities dramatically enhance data security and safeguard sensitive data across information systems.
National Standard-Compliant Security Algorithm — Hardware-Based Commercial Encryption
GBase 8s adopts China’s national commercial cryptographic algorithms, fully complying with national regulations on commercial cryptography. It rigorously uses hardware cryptographic cards that hold national cryptographic module certificates, effectively ensuring key security and the confidentiality of stored data. The product strictly follows the Cryptographic Device Application Interface Specification, ensuring compatibility with compliant cryptographic cards from various vendors.
Compatible with Non-Secure Version Features and Interfaces — Application Transparency
While enhancing security, GBase 8s preserves all existing functionality by design. It supports the SQL92 standard; original DDL, DML, and DQL usage remain unchanged; DCL usage for discretionary access control is also unchanged, while mandatory access control capabilities have been added. Administrative functions such as backup and recovery remain intact. Storage encryption operates at a low level, making it completely transparent to applications without affecting their operation. Existing application systems can be migrated directly to GBase 8s with storage encryption enabled.
Major Performance Architecture Improvement — Shared Memory + Multi-Threading Architecture
The new GBase 8s secure database features a redesigned performance architecture based on a shared memory and multi-threading model. It supports flexible parallel computing mechanisms that automatically adapt to both short-response, high-frequency transactional operations and long-response, low-frequency ad-hoc query analysis. It handles up to 2,048 concurrent accesses without significant performance degradation from frequent CPU context switching, delivering a TPC-C benchmark improvement of nearly 50%. Data support scales up to the 100TB level.
Major High Availability Architecture Improvement — Two-City Three-Center Deployment
The new GBase 8s secure database adopts an all-new high availability architecture that supports two-city three-center HA deployments. Using shared storage cluster technology, it achieves automatic failover and load balancing for services within the same data center. Real-time replication technology enables zero data loss backup to a disaster recovery site in the same city. Near-real-time replication supports remote data center disaster recovery over thousands of kilometers. High availability reaches 99.99%.
A Secure Database with a Mature Ecosystem — Compatible with Mainstream Platforms and Middleware
In addition to x86 platforms, the new GBase 8s secure database fully supports Chinese-made CPUs, including Loongson, Phytium, and Sunway series processors. It supports Chinese operating systems such as NeoKylin, Kylin, CS2C, and Deepin, as well as Chinese middleware such as TongTech, Kingdee, and Cvicse. It also supports mainstream development interfaces like ODBC, JDBC, and ADO.NET, and middleware such as Hibernate, MyBatis, and Entity Framework, simplifying application development and integration.
