GBase and JD Cloud Join Hands to Steadily Advance into the Cloud Data Services Era
In September 2021, GBase officially signed a cooperation agreement with JD Cloud to join JD Cloud's "Cloud Build" program, deploying the GBase series database products on JD Cloud. Leveraging JD Cloud's hybrid cloud operating system, Cloud Ship, they can abstract underlying heterogeneous infrastructure, ensuring stable and smooth operation of the upper-layer database systems. This enables the GBase database series to run across public cloud, private cloud, hybrid cloud, and other environments, making it easier for more government and enterprise customers to use leading China-developed database products.
A Cloud That Understands Industries Better
As the core technology service brand of JD Group, JD Cloud is a cloud that truly understands industries. Backed by years of deep industry expertise, it has achieved remarkable successes. Drawing on JD Group's rich industrial and practical strengths, and integrating cutting-edge technologies such as AI, big data, and IoT, JD Cloud has built technical capabilities and digital-intelligent application practices that span retail, logistics, finance, health, smart cities, smart manufacturing, and the internet sectors.
Leveraging its hybrid cloud operating system, Cloud Ship, JD Cloud launched the "Cloud Build" program to open its PaaS ecosystem. Since its launch, JD Cloud has joined forces with partners covering 16 major categories and dozens of foundational applications—including databases, middleware, big data, AI, and IoT—to co-create an ecosystem as "a cloud that understands industries better," delivering a cloud service platform that offers "one integration, multi-cloud deployment."
Through its operating system and hybrid cloud management capabilities, Cloud Ship can abstract away the differences between cloud infrastructure and physical facilities, providing a unified model abstraction and creating a consistent application runtime environment. Business teams can manage and use resources seamlessly on a single hybrid cloud without worrying about the underlying number of clouds.
Furthermore, thanks to Cloud Ship's fully open architecture, the Cloud Ship marketplace enables unified access, storage, and usage of applications, supporting cross-cloud deployment to achieve "one integration, multi-cloud deployment." Through this, JD Cloud and its partners can offer a wide range of premium PaaS components to serve customers.
GBase Cloud Service Strategy
Over the past few years, the rapid growth of cloud computing has fundamentally reshaped the structure and business models of the entire IT industry. For database companies, customer procurement models have gradually shifted from purchasing through system integrators to procuring via cloud providers, and the focus has expanded from physical goods to encompass ongoing services.
Faced with the industrial transformation driven by cloud computing, GBase has adopted a proactive strategy: instead of building its own cloud, it actively embraces cloud providers and seeks cooperation with cloud computing companies. In the era of cloud, GBase’s database products serve as a critical part of structured data management and a valuable PaaS component. Moving forward, GBase will continue to refine its database products and services, serving application developers upstream and cloud providers downstream, while delivering better services to customers across industries.
As leaders in their respective fields, GBase’s participation in JD Cloud’s "Cloud Build" program and their collaboration on database products—jointly tackling challenges in R&D, integration, and service delivery—not only helps build an integrated, win-win digital ecosystem and supports JD Cloud’s vision of becoming the "most open cloud," but also creates a self-service, vendor-lock-in-free cloud service marketplace for users. This collaboration marks GBase’s steady advance into the era of cloud data services.
Powerful Synergies to Drive Smart Industries Forward
China’s 14th Five-Year Plan explicitly advocates the “Cloud, Data, and AI Empowerment” initiative, aiming to consolidate digital transformation across the entire industrial chain and enhance the digital-intelligent development ecosystem. On the fast track of digitalization, both GBase and JD Cloud closely align with national policies, focus on self-reliant technological innovation, and provide concrete support for the strategy of data-driven empowerment. Through this partnership, the two sides have also reached a strategic cooperation on industrial digitalization, which will help bring more smart industry solutions to life.
GBase is one of the few independent database vendors in China that focuses exclusively on database R&D and has achieved large-scale deployments in the financial and telecom sectors. It has been consistently recognized by CCID Consulting, under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as a leading Chinese database company. Its services now span 34 countries worldwide and all 32 provincial-level administrative regions in China, serving over 10,000 users in finance, telecom, government, energy, transportation, national defense, and other industries. With more than 30,000 deployment nodes, it manages over 300 PB of data.
GBase has already partnered with multiple cloud providers to deploy its GBase database series on the cloud, demonstrating how a mature China-developed commercial database vendor can work with cloud providers to advance the cloud era. This proactive cloud-embracing strategy not only marks GBase’s steady entry into the cloud data services era but also, through these collaborations, enables the company to deliver database products and services to an even broader customer base. These efforts will also drive GBase’s next phase of business growth.
