From October 18 to 20, 2021, the 12th China Database Technology Conference (DTCC 2021) was grandly held at the Beijing International Convention Center. With the theme of "Data: Shaping the Future," the conference focused on sharing and discussing data architecture, AI and big data applications, traditional enterprise database practices, and China-developed open-source databases, providing an annual event and exchange platform for data professionals. GBase made a strong appearance with its core products, including the distributed analytical data management system GBase 8a, transaction data management system GBase 8s, and distributed transaction data management system GBase 8c, and was invited to deliver keynote speeches.
GBase Cloud Logical Data Warehouse Empowers Industry Digital Transformation
China’s 14th Five-Year Plan proposes to take technological self-reliance and self-strengthening as a strategic support for national development, bringing new development opportunities to the domestic basic software and hardware industry. At the same time, with the rapid development of next-generation technologies and applications such as cloud computing, Industrial Internet, Internet of Things, big data, artificial intelligence, and 5G, the exchange, storage, processing, and analysis of complex and massive information present new directions and requirements for databases. On October 18, Zhang Shaoyong, General Manager of the Data Intelligence Product Business Department at GBase, delivered a keynote speech titled "GBase Cloud Logical Data Warehouse Helps Industries Meet New Challenges of Digital Transformation."
The six challenges faced by traditional enterprise-level data warehouses—lack of resource elasticity, data type complexity, increasing workloads, higher data value, processing latency, and data security—drive the need for industrial digital transformation. The GBase GCDW cloud logical data warehouse architecture is built on data virtualization and data federation; it supports data lakes, data warehouses, and data marts; enables in-database machine learning, deep data mining with GBMLlib, efficient and transparent data encryption, and dynamic data masking; integrates information silos, and provides real-time data ingestion.
In addition, as a new-generation vector computing engine, the GBase GCDW cloud logical data warehouse features multi-instance deployment, logically unified and physically isolated virtual clusters, lakehouse integration, and cloud-based deployment providing services in a DaaS model. It has also passed the largest-scale MPP cluster test in China (4,096 nodes), and the GBase 8a MPP, in collaboration with Intel, has surged onto the TPC-DS world ranking list. The GBase GCDW cloud logical data warehouse provides a fulcrum for industrial digital transformation, and GBase will continue to adhere to its cloud development strategy supporting multi-cloud and hybrid cloud.
GBase 8s Empowers Financial IT Application Innovation
On October 19, Zhang Daoshan, Director of the GBase 8s Product Department at GBase, delivered a keynote speech titled "Technical Practices of GBase 8s in the Financial Industry."
The financial industry has the highest requirements for data management, needing databases that ensure strong data consistency, stability, business performance, and high availability. Therefore, database selection is urgent, and centralized databases are a mature choice for transaction-based businesses in the financial sector. As an enterprise-grade, high-performance, and highly reliable transaction database, GBase 8s features: advanced database service architecture, high performance with strong data consistency, parallel data query based on multi-process and multi-threading, comprehensive high availability capabilities, shared-storage high-availability clusters, and active-standby high-availability clusters. GBase 8s provides disaster recovery solutions and a two-site three-center disaster recovery architecture.
Currently, GBase 8s has been successfully deployed in the core business system of a city commercial bank. After adopting GBase 8s, the overall core business system performance improved by three times, and the data backup time was reduced from 2 hours to 20 minutes. The primary data center is deployed as a two-node shared-storage cluster, with a remote disaster recovery cluster set up for off-site disaster recovery, fully meeting the core system’s business continuity requirements. By adopting a domestically-developed hardware platform compliant with IT application innovation requirements, the overall procurement and O&M costs have been significantly reduced, while also satisfying the localization and independent controllability requirements of financial IT application innovation. The entire platform is autonomous and controllable.

During the conference, GBase also showcased the distributed analytical data management system GBase 8a, transaction data management system GBase 8s, and distributed transaction data management system GBase 8c, along with case projects in several key sectors, attracting the attention of many customers who expressed high appreciation for the product features and success stories.
