A Multi-Writer Multi-Reader Database Cluster Based on Data Replication Technology Breaks Through Centralized Availability Limitations

Guo Zhuo, Senior Database Expert and Product Manager of GBase 8s, shared the keynote "A Multi-Writer Multi-Reader Database Cluster Solution Based on Data Replication Technology" at the China Database Innovation Forum.

The limited write capability, poor horizontal scalability, and restricted overall capacity of centralized database clusters have long been persistent pain points in the industry. Addressing these challenges, Guo Zhuo detailed the latest multi-active, multi-writer database cluster technology from the GBase 8s product line. In this cluster solution, all database nodes support both read and write operations, enabling linear performance scaling.

Log-based capture is an internal database mechanism that incurs virtually no additional overhead. It leverages the scalable, parallel-processing architecture of the OnLine system to concurrently handle multiple data replication streams, thereby enhancing system processing performance.

In the event of a failure, GBase 8s' multi-active multi-writer design, combined with its high-availability technologies (HAC, RHAC, SSC), forms a high-availability cluster solution. This enhances the disaster recovery capability of sharded clusters, making them more secure and reliable. Failover can be completed in approximately 3 seconds, with near-zero impact on client applications, greatly improving overall system availability.

Furthermore, business logic-based table sharding technology can fully utilize hardware server resources to boost overall database system performance.
