Empowering Urban Rail: GBase Showcases at the Beijing-Qingdao Metro Expo Summit & First Urban Rail High-Tech Fair
The Beijing-Qingdao International Urban Rail Transit Exhibition & Summit Forum and the First China Urban Rail High-Tech Achievements Trade Fair took place from April 27 to 29 at the China Railway Qingdao World Expo City. GBase was invited to exhibit at this landmark event, where it showcased its capabilities in driving digital transformation for the rail transit industry and powering next-generation IT infrastructure.

Within the rail transit sector, the GBase database stores and manages both structured and unstructured data. Through data mining and analytics, it optimizes train dispatching, passenger flow analysis, and equipment management, ultimately boosting overall operational efficiency and enhancing the passenger experience.
GBase databases already power core business systems for metro lines in over 20 cities across China. These mission-critical deployments include automatic fare collection (AFC) systems, integrated line control centers, clearing and settlement platforms, coordinated operations command centers, and data center systems. This broad adoption lays a solid foundation for the localization of smart urban rail infrastructure.
One standout application is the China Academy of Railway Sciences' 12306 online ticketing platform—China's national railway booking system. The risk control and remaining ticket analytics platform, built on the GBase 8a MPP database, consolidated the legacy Hadoop-based historical ticketing analytics cluster into a unified management framework. This resolved processing bottlenecks in the online analytics layer, enabling China State Railway Group and its regional bureaus to manage over 200 TB of data storage and processing. Even with datasets reaching hundreds of billions of rows, it now delivers sub-second online analytical query capabilities. By integrating the MPP architecture with existing Hadoop clusters, the new-generation 12306 ticketing system creates a unified view of real-time and historical ticketing data, achieving coherent data governance and unified analytics.
