GBASE x openGauss Meetup (Hefei) Review | When Numbers Spark a Tech Encounter
Co-hosted by General Data Technology Co., Ltd. (GBase) and the openGauss Community, the "openGauss Meetup • Hefei" successfully concluded on November 4. The event brought together database industry experts and technical developers to discuss database technology innovation, industry deployment, peripheral tooling construction, and ecosystem co-building.
Leaders and guests attending this event included Zhang Yi, GBase 8c Product General Manager; Huang Xianru, openGauss Ecosystem Director; Cai Chao, Technical Marketing Manager of GBase; Peng Jiong, Senior R&D Engineer and openGauss Database Kernel Committer at Huawei; Wang Wei, GBase 8c Product Director; and Dai Mingming, Senior Operations Engineer at iFLYTEK. This event was a collaborative effort between community council member GBase (General Data Technology) and the openGauss community, serving as an excellent practice in advancing the openGauss ecosystem. From technology innovation to ecosystem expansion, GBase and the openGauss community continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation. At the start, Zhang Yi shared various practices of collaboration with openGauss and the limitless possibilities ahead, and introduced the outstanding features of the multi-model, multi-state distributed database GBase 8c, describing it as the best commercialization practice based on the openGauss roadmap.

Huang Xianru, openGauss Ecosystem Director, delivered a keynote titled "Harnessing Database Innovation Power to Promote Industry Chain Ecosystem Prosperity," highlighting the openGauss community’s achievements on its third anniversary of open source. He noted the community’s thriving development – from developer numbers and total code to partner members and commercial deployments – demonstrating its vitality and innovation. As an open-source database for digital infrastructure, openGauss supports mainstream database applications northbound while building a solid digital infrastructure foundation through core kernel and architecture competitiveness southbound.

With the rapid development of the Internet and the widespread adoption of smart devices, data has become indispensable. Processing and analyzing massive data volumes – the "big data" challenge – is a critical task for enterprises. Selecting the right database is essential. Cai Chao delivered a presentation titled "Partnering with openGauss to Build the Future of Open-Source Databases with GBase," giving attendees practical insights into database selection.

Peng Jiong shared "Practice Sharing of openGauss MySQL Compatibility Features." Starting from the openGauss architectural philosophy and based on accumulated practice and experience, he introduced the MySQL compatibility features in the latest openGauss version.
Wang Wei, GBase 8c Product Director
Wang Wei shared a talk titled "Innovative Practices of GBase Distributed Databases." She presented GBase 8c, a multi-model, multi-state distributed database built on the openGauss kernel, highlighting its technological innovations in distributed capability, high availability, and ease of use, as well as its commercial applications.

Dai Mingming shared "OpenGauss O&M Auxiliary Tools," introducing the development process and usage of the openGauss O&M auxiliary tool orz.
Establishment Ceremony
Hefei User Group Established
At the end of the event, adhering to the principles of co-building, sharing, and co-governance, the openGauss open-source community established the Hefei User Group on site. Gathering the power of database innovation requires more regional partners to join in building a strong regional ecosystem for openGauss and achieving win-win cooperation.
