Recently, leveraging the GBase database, Jilin Bank successfully launched its new retail CRM system, effectively resolving the long-standing lack of customer analysis, marketing, and management tools in retail business development, and propelling the bank's retail digital transformation into a new stage.

Jilin Bank's Retail Transformation Exploration Bears Fruit

Retail transformation relies on technology as a key tool. This project is a new exploration by Jilin Bank in the first three years of its retail reform, drawing on advanced industry experience, aligning with the bank's actual business, and following the development logic of the retail sector.

Jilin Bank's old retail CRM system was originally built in 2016, and due to its outdated architecture, it could not support the needs of customer marketing, in-depth operations, and team management for retail transformation.

Therefore, Jilin Bank initiated the planning of new system functions in 2021, introducing the GBase 8a distributed logical data warehouse to provide foundational data services for the bank's core business systems, including data loading, batch processing, and data push. The project adopts a combination of GBase database, X86 chips, Hygon chips, Kylin operating system (NeoKylin), and TongTech middleware, building a fully localized domestic environment.

As a result, the GBase database has become the foundational data service platform for Jilin Bank's core business systems, including the new retail CRM system, historical query system, management accounting system, regulatory reporting system, Integrated Reporting System (Yibiaotong), trusted zone data management system, and others.

By the end of 2023, all functions of Jilin Bank's new retail CRM system, both the web and mobile app versions, were fully launched. The new system significantly shortens batch processing time, achieves sub-second response for tens of millions of data records, and dramatically improves computing efficiency.

The rebuilt system provides multi-dimensional decision analysis data covering customers, institutions, products, and channels. It enables branches to customize performance metrics, drives marketing synergy between online and offline channels, and forms a closed-loop management process of decision-making, execution, and feedback. This thoroughly resolves the longstanding problem of lacking customer analysis, marketing, and management tools for retail business development.

Empowered by the new retail CRM system, by the end of 2023, Jilin Bank had over 10 million retail individual customers and more than 1 million wealth management customers with assets over 50,000 yuan, both historical highs. Next, Jilin Bank will continue to innovate and iterate the new retail CRM system, promoting channel integration to make it a key enabler for retail digital transformation.

The successful launch of this project also serves as a model for commercial banks to respond to the digital economy transformation, return to their core business, promote the integration of technology, data, and business, and explore distinctive retail transformation paths. It lays a solid foundation for GBase to serve more banking customers in their IT application innovation upgrades during retail business transformation.

In the future, GBase will continue to leverage its independent innovation capabilities, drawing on extensive experience in the financial industry, to help banking customers achieve resource sharing and value co-creation amid the digital economy wave, reshape and transcend their businesses, and secure a strategic high ground in the new retail era.
