GBase openGauss Developer Day 2024 Highlights

Published on 2024-06-25

On June 21, openGauss Developer Day 2024 was held in Beijing under the theme "Where Data Oceans Meet, We Co-create and Win Together".As a council member of the openGauss community and a key participant in the Kunpeng ecosystem, GBase made a brilliant appearance with its third-generation intelligent distributed database GBase 8c and participated in multiple sessions of the event.

At the event, the "OpenGauss Financial Critical Capabilities Research" report, led by the Beijing FinTech Industry Alliance and jointly researched, developed and written by GBase, Industrial Bank, Huawei, xFusion and other partner enterprises to address the key needs of financial industry databases in the digital era, was officially released.

The report starts from the financial industry’s key requirements for core and critical business database systems, including high performance, high availability, high security and high intelligence, and conducts in-depth, multi-scenario and multi-dimensional analysis and research on the openGauss database in such areas as data security architecture, multi-modal and multi-state kernel and storage engine capabilities, high availability and scalability architectures, kernel observability and easy O&M, database AI capabilities, and heterogeneous database compatibility and migration. It also puts forward suggestions for financial database application innovation and technology development directions.

At the main forum, GBase 8c Technical Director Wu Mingyuan delivered a keynote speech titled "GBase 8c Efficient Vector Storage and Retrieval Solution Empowering Government and Enterprise Digital Transformation in the Era of Large Models", elaborating on the core features of GBase 8c, GBase’s third-generation intelligent distributed database, such as intelligent indexing, intelligent optimization, intelligent O&M, and intelligent security. With the rapid development of artificial intelligence, large models and deep learning, traditional databases can no longer meet the demands for efficient processing and storage of large-scale vector data. To address the requirements of massive data volumes, high concurrency, and real-time query performance, GBase 8c builds on its original multi-modal, multi-state distributed architecture and leverages intelligent machine learning algorithms and AI capabilities to form four storage engines: vector storage, row storage, column storage, and in-memory storage. By optimizing index building, vector query response time, recall rate and other metrics, GBase 8c’s database cluster is expected to handle vector scales of up to hundreds of billions, achieve performance of millions of QPS with millisecond-level query latency, reaching an industry-leading level, and easily cope with current and future large-scale, high-concurrency business scenarios. For the highlighted vector features, GBase senior R&D engineer Wang Tao gave a live demo.

At the Application and O&M sub-forum in the afternoon, Huang Nan, Head of GBase 8c Testing Department, delivered a keynote speech titled "GBase 8c Delivers a Distinctive O&M Experience". Building on deep technical expertise and a large customer base, GBase has formed a "Four Professional" product service system consisting of professional technical support services, professional certification training services, a professional technical support team, and professional O&M management tools. The GBase 8c technical team has carefully built a supporting tool system for the database, bringing users an efficient and convenient O&M experience.

Additionally, on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of openGauss open source, the community presented multiple awards at the event. Recognized for outstanding technological innovation and first-class service quality, GBase became an openGauss community second-batch certified service partner & community training and certification partner. In the future, it will continue to provide professional training, authoritative certifications, and efficient talent matching services for openGauss enthusiasts and practitioners, jointly building a thriving openGauss community ecosystem.

Where data oceans meet, we co-create and win together. In the future, GBase will continue to focus on breakthroughs and innovations in core database technologies, join hands with the openGauss community to pool industry forces, co-build and share a more prosperous database ecosystem, and jointly create a bright future for Chinese databases.
