GBase Appointed Vice Chairman of Tianjin Computing Power Industry Development Alliance, Leading New Trends in Data-Computing Convergence

Recently, the 2024 Tianjin Data Infrastructure Summit, themed "Convergence of Data and Computing, Empowering the Future," was successfully held in Hebei District, Tianjin. At the summit, the Tianjin Computing Power Industry Development Alliance was officially established, and GBase was successfully elected as the Vice Chairman Unit of the Alliance.

This themed summit was guided by the Tianjin Municipal Data Bureau and hosted by the Tianjin Big Data Association, focusing on key areas such as computing power and data circulation infrastructure.

At the meeting, the Alliance released the second batch of high-quality industry datasets in Tianjin, involving 100 high-quality datasets from 48 organizations, covering 16 fields such as education and training, ecological environment, and engineering construction, with a total data volume exceeding 4,600 TB. Among them, 75 datasets were first released in China, and 15 datasets exceeded 10 TB in scale. These datasets span industries such as healthcare and manufacturing, focusing on specific diseases, specialized processes, and other niche domains to meet their needs. A large number of datasets in marine, aviation, traditional Chinese medicine, and automotive testing have already been applied to national data service platforms and industry large models, actively generating economic and social benefits.

Data and Computing Power: Mutually Reinforcing and Supporting Each Other

Computing power is the core pillar of the digital economy. As the construction of Digital China enters a new stage, it is characterized by “the integration of data and computing, and the convergence of cloud and AI.” Databases, connecting applications above and hardware below, serve as the fundamental base for invoking computing power and breaking down data silos.

As the newly appointed Vice Chairman Unit of the Tianjin Computing Power Industry Development Alliance, GBase will promote the deep integration of data product R&D with computing power, algorithms, and application scenarios. Leveraging the advantages of GBase database's distributed storage and parallel computing, GBase will fully utilize computing resources, activate data assets, and unlock the full-chain value of data collection, storage, analysis, and mining. Together, we will drive innovation in data-intensive applications, support model training and inference in the AI sector, and accelerate the converged development of cloud, data, AI, blockchain, and terminals, empowering emerging scenarios such as digital government, digital finance, smart manufacturing, smart cities, and the industrial Internet.

Looking ahead, GBase will continue to strengthen independent R&D of core database technologies, bridge the computing innovation chain spanning basic hardware, basic software, and application software, and collaborate with Alliance members to advance computing power infrastructure, improve computing service levels, and provide computing support and data services for the digital transformation of enterprises in Tianjin and across China.

About Tianjin Computing Power Industry Development Alliance

The Tianjin Computing Power Industry Development Alliance currently has 117 member units, with the Advanced Computing and Key Software (IT Application Innovation) Haihe Laboratory serving as the Chairman Unit. GBase, Tianjin Artificial Intelligence Computing Center, Tianjin Supercomputing Center, China Unicom Tianjin Branch, China Mobile Tianjin Branch, China Telecom Tianjin Branch, and 16 other organizations serve as Vice Chairman Units. The Tianjin Big Data Association serves as the Secretariat. There are also 42 council member units and 57 general member units, covering the entire computing industry chain both upstream and downstream. The Alliance will contribute to building an integrated industry ecosystem of “computing power, data, models, networks, and security,” developing high-quality industry datasets, and supporting the R&D and application of AI industry models, thereby better serving the deep integration of the digital economy and the real economy.
