GBase Helps Suzhou Metro Project Selected into “2024 Collection of Typical Applications of Homegrown Databases in the Transportation Industry”
The award ceremony for the 2025 Digital China Innovation Competition – IT Application Innovation (Xinchuang) track was successfully held in Fuzhou. During the event, the “2024 Collection of Typical Applications of Homegrown Databases in the Transportation Industry” was officially released. The “Domestic Substitution Upgrade of the Hailing Toll Station Tolling System at Taizhou Bridge” project, implemented by General Data Technology (GBase) for Jiangsu Taizhou Bridge Co., Ltd., was successfully selected, providing a replicable and scalable homegrown database solution for the digital and intelligent transformation of the transportation industry.
This case collection focused on the application of homegrown databases in the transportation sector. It solicited entries from enterprises and institutions in highways, railways, waterways, civil aviation, postal services, and urban rail transit, as well as from homegrown database vendors, aiming to identify typical application scenarios with independent innovation and strong replicability to support the industry’s technological innovation and digital transformation.

The selected Hailing Toll Station at Taizhou Bridge is the first highway “Xinchuang cloud toll station” in Jiangsu Province. It innovatively adopted a “cloud-edge-endpoint” architecture to fully restructure its toll collection system, building a smart tolling Xinchuang foundation centered on GBase databases, domestic processors, and domestic operating systems. This has provided stable operation support for toll services and achieved autonomy and control over key technologies and core equipment:
GBase databases are highly compatible with the original system, and combined with visual data synchronization tools, they enable smooth migration between heterogeneous databases.
Leveraging the “separation of duties” security feature of GBase databases, sensitive tolling data is protected, and fine-grained access control is achieved.
Fine-grained locking and intelligent query optimization improve single-node processing performance and multi-table join query response time, ensuring stable operations during peak holiday hours.
GBase database instances are deployed in a fully domestic environment, processing high-frequency, low-latency transactions such as real-time toll calculation and vehicle information retrieval, while minimizing cloud-side data interactions.
After the system went live, ETC transaction time was reduced by 60%, single-lane throughput increased by 50%, and special event handling efficiency improved by over 70%. The toll station now saves over 2 million yuan in implicit economic costs annually, significantly enhancing overall traffic throughput, operational management efficiency, and the travel experience for roadway users.
Today, GBase databases are operational on highways in over ten provinces across China, delivering stable services for toll collection, operations monitoring, and other business systems.
