The GBase Training Center plans to hold the 10th "GBase 8a MPP Cluster Database Certification Training" in December 2022, enabling you to quickly master this big data analytical MPP database. This fully free certification training starts on December 5th. All enthusiasts of Chinese database technology are welcome to sign up!

Product Introduction

GBase 8a MPP Cluster (abbreviated as 8a cluster) is a leading, independently developed large-scale distributed parallel processing database from GBase. It has been widely adopted in finance, telecommunications, government, defense, and enterprises. The 8a cluster has become a powerful backbone for data warehouses and decision support systems—nearly 90% of users report its superior performance and comprehensive features. This strong market feedback has created growing demand for in-depth training.

Course Introduction

This course starts from zero basics of the 8a cluster, covering its principles and fundamental usage. The program is divided into two phases: learning and examination. It includes 14 days of study, two unit quizzes, and two certification exam attempts. The training and testing are organized as an online bootcamp, with a scientific, step‑by‑step approach that helps you easily master the fundamentals of China‑developed databases.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the working principles, features, and deployment strategies of the 8a cluster, and build foundational concepts of MPP database architecture.

  • Gain the ability to install, manage, and maintain the 8a cluster database, and troubleshoot common cluster status issues.

  • Perform data operations on a single virtual cluster database—including CRUD, user privilege management, and viewing system tables.

Training Schedule

  • November 25 – December 4: Registration

  • December 5–18: One lesson unlocked daily for learning

  • December 22–25: Certification exam (2 attempts)

Past Participants’ Feedback

IT Manager at a Bank: This remote training was very convenient. Not only was it free, but cloud servers were also provided for hands-on practice. Most importantly, the video lectures explained concepts in great detail, and the instructor answered questions in the group patiently and promptly. We came with our own questions, making the learning more targeted. For example, the lesson on clients helped us correct some previously inaccurate usage.

Auditor at Bank of Jiangxi Head Office: The training format was innovative, focused on the learner experience. Unlike traditional one‑way teaching, it emphasized interaction and communication. After the training, course notes were compiled and shared with participants. Meanwhile, after‑class exercises and periodic tests played an important role in reinforcing learning outcomes and validating effectiveness. The instructor’s detailed explanations and Q&A provided a great start for learners of all backgrounds to quickly grasp, deepen understanding, gain hands‑on exposure, and subsequently use the product.

Technical Expert at Bank of Chongqing: To address the performance bottlenecks of centralized database architectures in data analysis systems, Bank of Chongqing evaluated multiple products on high availability, stability, cluster functionality, and cluster performance, ultimately selecting GBase 8a MPP Cluster to build a new‑generation data warehouse. Through this training, I gained a deeper understanding and hands‑on experience with GBase 8a MPP Cluster’s fundamental architecture, core technologies, applicable scenarios, and SQL usage—providing technical reserves for future work.

Big Data Project Manager at Hande Information: This training spanned over ten days, requiring only 1–2 hours per day. It covered everything from GBase’s history and features to deployment, routine use, and monitoring—very comprehensive. After unit quizzes, participants could take the final certification exam; those who performed well or were highly engaged even received discounts on exam and certificate fees. I must say this arrangement was spot‑on, with both "carrots" and "sticks"—haha, I love this format. It not only boosted interest and broad participation but also prevented the training from becoming a mere formality. I highly recommend those who haven’t yet joined to sign up for the next session.

IT Product Manager at Jiangsu Mobile: The instructor’s lectures were like a rich feast, beautifully presented in the classroom, truly “worth more than ten years of reading.” The instructor shared their experience without reservation, explaining profound concepts in simple terms—truly brilliant.

Architect at an Archives Technology Company in Hubei: The free GBase training gave me a whole new understanding of GBase products. The course covered a lot of content; I spent a few days studying intensively. The videos were very useful, and I applied most of the content in my tests. The database SQL compatibility is excellent—except for some specific syntax, it largely aligns with mainstream databases. I was able to migrate a previous project to GBase databases quite easily. One thing worth highlighting is that the training is free; comparable training from other vendors can cost thousands of yuan. I think this shows integrity, demonstrating that GBase is building a genuine ecosystem rather than chasing quick profits. I believe a company with such principles produces great products.
