     Welcome to the "GBase 8a MPP Cluster Certification Training" online classroom. You have great foresight, having already recognized the rising trend of Chinese-developed databases ahead of many others. Despite your busy schedule, you have chosen to join this certification training for GBase, a Chinese-developed database produced by General Data Technology Co., Ltd. (GBase), a company with 18 years of development history, and which has tens of thousands of nodes deployed across China. A warm welcome to you!

     We are your instructors for this training. Over the next 20-plus days, we will be with you every step of the way. To ensure you gain the most from this training, please read the following trainee guidelines carefully. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

1. What are GBase databases and General Data Technology like?

General Data Technology (GBase) is an independent database vendor in China that focuses on database product R&D and has achieved large-scale deployments in the financial and telecommunications industries. Its two flagship homegrown database products are GBase 8s, a transaction-oriented database, and GBase 8a, an analytical database, each built on a different technical architecture for different application scenarios.

GBase 8a MPP Cluster (hereinafter referred to as "8a cluster") is a large-scale distributed parallel database cluster system independently developed by General Data Technology. A leading solution in China, it meets the growing demands of data-intensive industries for data analysis, data mining, data backup, and ad-hoc queries. It has been deployed at scale at hundreds of organizations, including the People's Bank of China, the China Banking Regulatory Commission, the Agricultural Bank of China, Bank of China, China Mobile, and the General Administration of Customs. Currently, the total number of deployed nodes exceeds 25,000, managing over 200 PB of data.

2. What does the GDCA certification training include?

This course starts from scratch with the 8a cluster product, covering the principles and basic usage of the 8a cluster database.

The entire course lasts nearly one month and is divided into two phases: learning and examination. It includes 11 lessons, 2 unit quizzes, and 2 certification exam attempts. During the learning period, dedicated instructors are available in WeChat groups to answer questions promptly. The training and exams are organized as an online bootcamp, allowing you to progressively and easily master the fundamentals of Chinese-developed databases through a scientifically structured arrangement.

 

3. What is the course format? Can lectures be replayed?

You need to register first. After successful registration, you can start learning (accessible via mobile phone, tablet, or PC).

1. Course format: online recorded video lessons + in-class exercises / hands-on labs + stage quizzes. During the learning phase, one lesson is unlocked at 7:00 a.m. each day. You can arrange your study time freely. We recommend joining the learning and discussion group to stay updated on the schedule and get your questions answered.

2. During the learning period, unlocked course videos can be watched repeatedly but cannot be downloaded.

4. How can I practice to check my learning progress?

Each lesson includes a practice exercise linked under the "Classroom Interaction" section below the video. Currently, exercises can only be completed on mobile devices (phone or tablet) and can be repeated. Exercises come with answer explanations. This feature is not yet supported on PC.

 

5. How do I download the 8a cluster installation package, and how can I practice?

Documentation is provided for trainees to download the 8a cluster installation package, set up the environment, and perform hands-on exercises.

6. How do I take the certification exam? Is it free?

You must take the online certification exam within the designated exam window, at a time of your choice. The exam consists of single-choice, multiple-choice, and true/false questions, randomly selected. The exam duration is 60 minutes, with a total score of 100 points. A passing score is 80 points (90 points for GBase employees). You have 2 exam attempts, and the highest score from those attempts will be recorded.

Exam fee explanation:

1. Trainees who complete the learning as required, finish both stage quizzes, and carefully fill out the training survey will receive a CNY 50 exam coupon before the exam. Using this coupon allows you to take the exam for free.

2. Alternatively, you can pay the CNY 50 exam fee directly to take the certification exam.


 

7. How long does it take to receive the certificate after passing the exam?

1. By default, an electronic certificate is issued and sent to your email within 10 business days after the exam.

2. A paper certificate can be purchased optionally for CNY 100. It will be mailed to you within approximately 20 business days after the exam. A scanned copy will also be sent to your email at the same time.

 

8. What if I encounter problems during learning?

1. Each training session has a dedicated WeChat learning group. Upon successful registration, a QR code will pop up, prompting you to add the instructor as a WeChat friend. Then send the message "8a" to the instructor, who will invite you to the learning group. Dedicated instructors and enthusiastic trainees answer questions in the group (on business days, 9:00–20:00).

9. What if I don't have time to study now, can I learn later?

The 8a cluster certification course can be studied at any time during the open period. However, exams are held on fixed dates. If you miss the exam, you will need to join a later training session. Please follow the learning group messages or the "GBase Training Center" official account.
