Advancing Spatial Data, Strengthening China's Database Foundation — GBASE at the 2026 Geospatial Information Technology Innovation Conference
From September 9–10, the 2026 Geospatial Information Technology Innovation Conference was held at the Beijing International Convention Center.
GBASE (General Data Technology Co., Ltd.) showcased its innovations in the geospatial domain at the conference, demonstrating core capabilities in GIS spatial data management.
Under the theme "GIS as the Foundation, AI as the Enabler," the conference brought together leading experts and cutting-edge innovations from the geospatial information field, aiming to build a high-level platform for industry exchange and collaboration, drive deep integration of geospatial technology across industries, and support high-quality development.
As a leading independent database provider in China, GBASE has been committed to independent innovation for over two decades. Its flagship product, GBase 8c, is a next-generation AI-native distributed database with multi-model, multi-form capabilities and deep expertise in the geospatial domain.
On the spatial data front, GBase 8c natively supports GIS features, providing geospatial data storage, retrieval, and fast query capabilities. It includes over 200 built-in spatial functions — including distance, area, buffer, overlay analysis, clipping, and merging — to support complex GIS application requirements. Within its multi-model storage architecture, GBase 8c simultaneously supports row-store, column-store, GIS, time-series, and vector storage modes. In addition to supporting traditional OLTP, OLAP, and HTAP workloads, it natively supports vector data storage and hybrid retrieval for AI applications — delivering a unified engine for spatiotemporal big data and intelligent analytics.
In production deployments, GBase 8c has supported an integrated air-space GIS system in stable operation for over two years, handling high-frequency spatial service calls. In a provincial geological remote sensing project, it supports core operations including geospatial (remote sensing) data collection, database construction, distribution, and emergency response — demonstrating highly reliable, high-performance spatial data service capabilities.
At the conference, the "GeoScene IT Application Innovation Adaptation White Paper and Integrated Software-Hardware Full-Stack Solution (Spatiotemporal Intelligence Appliance)" was officially released. As China's only native distributed GIS database, GBase 8c completed compatibility certification with GeoScene (Esri China) as early as 2022. Its distributed architecture supports large-scale horizontal scaling for GIS workloads, handling greater load pressure than centralized databases and offering significant advantages in very large GIS projects — providing the data foundation for the GeoScene full-stack IT innovation solution in large-scale spatial data scenarios.
Geospatial data is a critical production factor in the digital era, and artificial intelligence is giving it new momentum. As this year's conference theme — "GIS as the Foundation, AI as the Enabler" — suggests, GBASE will continue to deepen GIS-AI integration and innovation, collaborating with more ecosystem partners to build additional independently controlled benchmark deployments across natural resources, smart cities, emergency response, energy, and mining — strengthening the geospatial data foundation for China's digital economy.
