Foshan Lighting MES System Transformation Project

Project Overview

Project Background

To build a systematic set of data standards for the future data asset management of Foshan Electrical and Lighting Co., Ltd., resolve data incompatibilities across multiple MES systems on the shop floor, break down data silos spanning R&D, production, inventory, and procurement, and establish an end-to-end integrated production collaboration system. At the same time, further standardize data service specifications for interfaces, queries, and analytics, helping meet the data needs of different internal and supply-chain business units and systems, and driving coordinated production improvements.

Requirements

Replacing the MES system with a China-developed database requires:

  • Thoroughly evaluating data compatibility and interface complexity to address data collection and aggregation challenges;

  • Selecting appropriate storage and processing technologies such as relational databases, distributed storage systems, and big data platforms;

  • Applying access control, encryption, and data masking to ensure security and compliance; leveraging data cleansing, deduplication, validation, and synchronization to guarantee accuracy and consistency throughout integration and sharing.

Implementation Plan

GBase distributed database from General Data Technology meets the data infrastructure requirements of Foshan Lighting outlined above. This project encompasses Foshan Lighting's MES and SCADA systems, where existing business data is consolidated into the GBase distributed database to support data access and queries—covering MES functions such as basic management, equipment management, and production management, as well as SCADA capabilities like device connectivity and protocol conversion.

GBase is deployed in a one-primary, two-standby architecture for high-speed application queries, while its strong Oracle syntax compatibility enables a seamless migration of legacy data and a smooth go-live.

Results

  • GBase Distributed Database delivers ultra-high performance through NUMA-aware key data structures, data partitioning, and SQL optimization, enabling smooth operation of multiple systems at Foshan Electrical and Lighting Co., Ltd.

  • Multi-replica strong consistency and comprehensive disaster recovery strategies meet 24/7 stability requirements.

  • High compatibility with Oracle syntax, as well as data types, functions, advanced packages, and other database objects, ensures seamless migration of legacy data.
