GBASE Helps Bank of Yantai Migrate to Independently Developed Databases
Project Requirements
As a vital component of Bank of Yantai's core banking operations, the tag middle platform system handles big data analytics and tag management for customers, supporting key business functions such as targeted marketing, customer profiling, and risk management. The system originally ran on a foreign distributed database, which provided stable support in the early stages. However, as business expanded and data volumes surged, the foreign database gradually revealed deficiencies in performance, scalability, security, and compliance. To address these challenges, Bank of Yantai decided to replace the existing database with GBase, a China-developed distributed database.
Implementation Plan
This project deployed a three-node GBase distributed database cluster on three virtual machines, each configured with 16-core CPUs, 64 GB of memory, and 523 GB of storage. The DMT tool enabled one-click full data migration and real-time incremental synchronization, while SQL intelligent translation ensured statement compatibility. A shadow replay mechanism was used for performance stress testing and validation, and a grayscale traffic routing strategy achieved a zero-code switch, guaranteeing a smooth transition. Ultimately, the deployment met the high-availability standard of an RTO of less than five minutes, supporting the efficient and stable launch of the tag middle platform in a domestic IT innovation environment.
Application Benefits and Value
The successful implementation of this project to replace existing databases with a domestically developed solution has significantly improved the security, performance optimization capabilities, and compliance levels of Yantai Bank's core systems, while also enhancing their horizontal scalability. This technology upgrade not only provides agile and reliable underlying support for banking business innovation, but also improves customer service quality through increased data processing efficiency, thereby strengthening the bank’s market competitiveness in the digital race and injecting new momentum into its sustainable development.
