CBRC Off-Site Inspection System Project — Fully Independently Developed Platform Ensuring Security

Off-site inspection is an important means for the CBRC to assess the business activities and risk status of financial institutions. Currently, the off-site inspection work faces significant problems: banking business volume has expanded rapidly, and compl

Value Proposition

l High Performance: Achieves a 5:1 data compression ratio, and query performance averages 10 times faster than traditional databases.

l  Low Cost: Uses cost-effective PC server plus local disk hardware architecture, reducing initial system build costs; prompt and efficient local support also lowers ongoing operational expenses.

l High Security: Completely developed in-house in China, eliminating reliance on foreign databases, removing information security risks and safeguarding national strategic security.

Solutions

GBase 8a uses columnar storage and advanced compression algorithms to efficiently store financial data at a reduced size. Combined with intelligent indexing, it dramatically accelerates query and analysis performance. By leveraging industry-standard x86 PC servers, it also significantly lowers infrastructure costs. As shown in the system architecture, the GBase 8a cluster runs on high-availability, fault-tolerant computing platforms developed in China. The business data storage management system accesses, extracts, and loads banking data through an interface platform. Powered by GBase 8a, the data analysis platform and software toolkit deliver services to users via a web UI—covering business modeling, data analysis and mining, data extraction, standardized data, and data storage.

Requirements Analysis

The project requirements include: efficient storage of 1TB data; improved query and analysis efficiency for financial data; as financial data is classified as sensitive national data, the system must meet high security standards; replacing the expensive minicomputer and disk array systems to control system construction costs.

Project Background

Off-site examination is a critical tool used by the National Financial Regulatory Administration to assess the business activities and risk profiles of financial institutions. Currently, the off-site examination process faces significant challenges: the exponential growth and increasing complexity of banking operations have rendered traditional manual inspection methods inefficient, making it difficult to ensure the quality and comprehensiveness of these examinations. Deploying a high-performance analytical database to process massive banking datasets has become essential. Against this backdrop, an efficient and practical database application platform is urgently needed to enable secure data storage, high-speed analysis, and accurate risk assessment of vast transactional data, thereby transforming the conventional on-site inspection model and significantly elevating the efficiency and quality of off-site regulatory examinations.
