GBase officially began developing a distributed transactional database based on openGauss.

GBase signed the CLA (Contribution License Agreement) in 2021, officially joining the openGauss community. It recently officially began developing the distributed transactional database GBase 8c (for openGauss) based on openGauss, which is also the industry’s first distributed database product built on openGauss. This product provides secure, stable, and reliable data storage and management services for core systems in critical industries, Internet business systems, and government and enterprise business systems.
 

The openGauss open-source database deeply integrates Huawei’s years of experience in the database field, delivering extreme multi-core performance, end-to-end business and data security, AI-based tuning, and efficient O&M capabilities. It is released under the MulanPSL v2, which allows all community participants to freely modify, use, and reference the code. This has attracted over 100 core enterprises spanning government, finance, telecommunications, energy, manufacturing, and other sectors. Adhering to the principles of co-building, sharing, and co-governance, openGauss collaborates with enterprises, partners, and developers to build the most innovative open-source community.

Leveraging the superior product performance of openGauss, the GBase 8c database delivers stability, reliability, elastic scaling, online upgrades, and strong-consistency distributed transactions. Compatible with the IT application innovation ecosystem, it can be flexibly deployed across physical servers, virtual machines, containers, public clouds, and private clouds, offering tailored solutions for diverse customer scenarios. As an enterprise-grade distributed transactional database based on openGauss, GBase 8c features an adaptive transaction processing mechanism and a high-performance distributed query engine that ensures efficient data read/write capabilities in distributed scenarios. The product supports disaster recovery solutions such as active-active within the same city and two-location-three-center architectures, achieves global no-single-point-of-failure, and delivers up to 99.999% high availability. Meanwhile, critical capabilities—including global lock management and transaction state preservation—enable self-healing in the event of system exceptions. GBase 8c’s elastic scaling capability flexibly meets performance demands in extreme scenarios, and its gray release capability provides reliability for frequent application deployments and decommissions.
