GBase – One of the 'Four Golden Flowers' of Chinese Databases

Fu Xinjiang is the Technical Manager of Antute (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. He has long been engaged in the daily operation and management of HP and IBM full-series minicomputers and storage products, and is proficient in HP-UX, AIX, Linux systems, as well as databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, and Redis. Although he had little previous exposure to GBase database products, he found that many usage habits are quite similar to Informix.

Databases have become the software foundation of the digital economy era. Nearly all enterprise data, terminal data, and edge device data must be managed and analyzed by a database management system to empower upper-layer applications or business decisions and unleash their maximum value. Although major players in the domestic market in recent years have been overseas giants such as Oracle, Microsoft, IBM, and AWS, with China's increasing support for homegrown databases, products from GBase, one of the four traditional domestic database vendors, are poised to capture more market share. Therefore, it is imperative to become more familiar with the homegrown database product lines.

This GBase 8s training was completed as planned. Providing online graphic textbook content before the training allowed trainees to preview the course materials in advance, which contributed to better training outcomes. The combination of fundamental knowledge and hands-on practice helped stimulate trainees’ motivation and enthusiasm for learning. The training courseware, presented in the form of online articles, made it convenient for trainees to reference at any time. Training videos were unlocked progressively as the training progressed, accompanied by quizzes on frequently used knowledge points. Combined with FAQs on websites such as CSDN and Modb, as well as recorded public training courses on Tencent Classroom, the expected training objectives were achieved through multiple channels and rich presentation forms. In the future, GBase-related database products will be recommended for trial use by industry customer groups, further enriching the domestic database ecosystem.
