GBase Database Series Debuts at the 3rd Insurance Digitalization Conference
From October 21 to 22, 2021, the "3rd Insurance Digitalization Conference" was successfully held in Shanghai. With the theme "Shaping the Future of New Insurance," the conference covered topics including "Digital New Infrastructure Reconstructing the Insurance Value Chain," "Data Middle Platform Equipping Insurance," "Operational Technology Transforming Traditional Marketing Channels," "Full Lifecycle Insurance Services for Sci-Tech Innovation Enterprises," and "Life Insurance Transformation and the Essence of Insurance Services," attracting many representatives from the financial and insurance industries. GBase showcased its core products, including GBase 8a, GBase 8s, and GBase 8c, and delivered a keynote speech.

GBase Database Empowers Financial and Insurance Digitalization
GBase has been dedicated to the financial and insurance sectors for many years, engaging in deep cooperation with core financial clients. By leveraging fintech to drive innovation in China-developed databases, we help the financial and insurance industries achieve digital transformation. Currently, GBase database products are used in 34 countries and across all 32 provincial-level administrative regions in China, with over 30,000 nodes deployed and more than 300 PB of data under management. In the financial industry, GBase has served over 110 clients. Among them, the Agricultural Bank of China Head Office Big Data Platform Project received the First Prize of the 2017 Bank Technology Development Award from the People’s Bank of China. The project now has over 2,000 nodes deployed, manages more than 20 PB of data, and has been running stably for over 2,000 days.
PICC P&C Data Center Platform: This project has deployed GBase 8a MPP Cluster databases across 8 environments, with a total data volume of 1.7 PB. Among them, the ACRM project includes one monthly report cluster and one daily job cluster, with 250 TB of data in the database. Key businesses include: online business, daily job processing for data warehouse and data mart layer reports, market segmentation, and multidimensional analysis. The TD data warehouse migration project uses one core warehouse cluster, one data mart cluster, and one application cluster, storing 800 TB of data. Primary business areas: business analysis, actuarial, claims, and auto insurance. The Big Data Lake project has two clusters with 500 TB of data. The IDS project uses one cluster with 150 TB of data. Other setups include test environment clusters at the Foshan Branch and Chengdu Development Center, as well as test clusters deployed at the headquarters testing center.
PICC Life Data Warehouse System: Built with GBase 8a MPP Cluster, it deploys 45 nodes and connects 37 branch front-end systems, covering 10 core business modules and 12 major themes. It fully supports applications including the headquarters reporting system, management cockpit system, and big data platform system, as well as branch data service support, actuarial systems, ECIF group reporting, and regulatory reporting.
While experts delivered inspiring speeches inside the venue, the GBase product display—featuring GBase 8a, GBase 8s, and GBase 8c—attracted strong interest from attendees, who came to inquire about product details and application cases. It features high performance, high availability, low cost, refined resource scheduling, and intelligent cluster O&M, providing secure, stable, and reliable data storage and management services for financial core systems, internet business systems, and government/enterprise business systems. A single cluster supports up to 1,000+ nodes, supports various deployment schemes, and is compatible with an integrated O&M platform.
The GBase 8a cluster combines OLTP, OLAP, NoSQL, and other large-scale structured and unstructured data processing capabilities. Through data virtualization and data federation technologies, it integrates complex relational analysis, stream computing, graph computing, and batch processing models to build a unified, externally consistent, and internally scalable big data platform. It adapts to diverse business scenarios and serves as a critical infrastructure for constructing an enterprise unified logical data warehouse. For bank and insurance deployments, different VCs (virtual clusters) from branch offices can be consolidated into a headquarters management cluster, enabling independent business module management with cross-business resource sharing and rational allocation. For China-developed chips, multi-instance deployment improves TPC-H performance by 235% and TPC-DS performance by 88%.
In addition to these three core products, GBase has also built the GBase GCDW cloud data warehouse.
