Outstanding Trainees Share Their Experience

Some of the outstanding trainees from this session sent in their training summaries, learning experiences, and suggestions for General Data Technology’s GBase database. We appreciate their enthusiastic support for China’s homegrown databases and excerpt some of their feedback for you to read.

Wang Houli, Data Development Engineer, Beijing Yinfeng Xinrong Technology Development Co., Ltd.:

I have gained a lot from the two-week training. I learned many things that I hadn't known before. Database localization is an inevitable trend, and I have truly experienced the power of the homegrown GBase 8a MPP Cluster database. This systematic learning has laid a solid foundation for further exploring GBase databases.

Wang Shaocong, Hebei Aerospace Information Technology Co., Ltd.:

I manage a GBase 8a cluster of version 8.6 in my work, and before the training I thought I was already quite familiar with GBase. However, after these few days of study, I realized my understanding was far from deep enough. Thank you, General Data Technology, for providing this training. I hope GBase will gain more and more recognition, and I also look forward to more advanced GDCP courses in the future.

Manager of Information Technology Department, Guangdong Shunde Rural Commercial Bank:

Learning about GBase 8a has changed my perception of domestic MPP data warehouses and sparked my interest. Although my work involves using foreign data warehouses, I am now willing to test and explore GBase for analytical scenarios.

Xie Linhan, Bank of Guangzhou Co., Ltd.:

The training course content is comprehensive, accommodating students of various levels with a certain inclusiveness. It also provides hands-on practice resources for offline exercises, making for a positive learning experience that is worth recommending.

Huang Jinkun, System Delivery Engineer, China Telecom Fufu Information Technology Co., Ltd.:

After more than half a month of studying the GBase database course, we have learned about the basic features of GBase, the current landscape of database vendors at home and abroad, and have grasped the fundamentals of creating databases and performing database operations. It is not particularly difficult to learn, but one thing to keep in mind is that you must follow the instructor’s pace and take notes diligently during class. That way, you will find it easy and effortless. In short, this is a very worthwhile course—highly recommended!

He Yongjia, China Mobile Hunan Co., Ltd.:

Through this training, I learned about the basic working principles of GBase 8a and the points to consider when building a data warehouse. It is well worth our serious study and mastery, and will require further practice and proficient application. I have now embarked on the path of operating and maintaining localized databases.

Liu Kaixuan, Project Manager, Guangdong ESurfing Information Technology Co., Ltd.:

The training courses from General Data Technology, both in content and design, are premium products—and they are free, cultivating countless database talents for the nation. General Data Technology’s vision, ambition, and broad-mindedness are beyond the reach of other vendors.

Data Architect, Neusoft Corporation:

The training was very well organized—flexible in timing and highly adaptable, suitable for people with all types of work schedules. The training content and instructor explanations were quite thorough, giving me a better understanding of several features of GBase 8a MPP. However, I felt the exam was a bit too easy and could be made slightly more challenging.

Zhang Zhi, Software Developer, Daqing Oilfield Information Technology Company:

I had previously attended the GBase 8s training, so as soon as I learned that an 8a class was opening, I immediately signed up. Over these ten-plus days of study, I have gained a clear understanding of the differences between 8a and 8s. The 8a cluster data is primarily used in data warehousing, business intelligence, and decision support systems, where 8a’s efficiency can be maximized. The online course progressed step by step, with quizzes in each session to reinforce newly acquired knowledge, and after-class exercises that could be practiced repeatedly to deepen the impression. Moreover, the hands-on practice—writing the code myself—gave me a real sense of accomplishment. Through this series of courses and several days of review, I passed the test smoothly. I am grateful to the instructor for tirelessly answering our questions, and to all my fellow learners. Everyone has gained a new appreciation of GBase, and I believe China’s homegrown databases will continue to get better and better!

System Administration Engineer, Information Technology Department, Guangdong Shunde Rural Commercial Bank:

I understand that GBase’s product design and features are suitable for many analytical business systems. This was my first exposure to a domestic MPP database, and it was a wonderful learning experience full of useful knowledge. I will definitely recommend it to friends around me.

Zhao Yafei, Department Manager, Beijing Lingshu Technology Co., Ltd.:

During this training, I was introduced to and systematically learned about GBase databases for the first time, and I was deeply impressed by the power of GBase. GBase 8a is China’s first new-type column-store database designed to support rapid analysis of massive data. It features unique columnar storage, transparent adaptive compression, intelligent indexing, bidirectional parallelism, high-speed data loading, automatic memory management, and semantic optimization technologies, offering advantages of high performance, high cost-effectiveness, and high availability. At the same time, GBase, like Oracle and MySQL, follows SQL programming standards, making it relatively easy for those of us accustomed to Oracle and MySQL to switch and get started. Overall, this training has been very rewarding, deepening my understanding of domestic databases and enhancing my own capabilities. I sincerely thank General Data Technology in Tianjin for providing this free training opportunity, and I wish your company even greater success in the future.

Cui Linan, Senior Programmer, Hebei Aerospace Information Technology Co., Ltd.:

Compared with Oracle, GBase is more stable, takes less time to extract large amounts of data, and offers superior performance. However, compared to the more mature Oracle, the current GBase 8a database lacks syntax checking when writing stored procedures, the error messages are still relatively vague, and built-in system functions are fewer. I hope GBase can enhance its error-reporting mechanism, expand system functions, and build a streamlined, universal domestic database to surpass foreign brands—let Chinese technology rise!
