City Commercial Bank Clearing Data Aggregation and Statistical Billing System Construction Project

Project Background

City Bank Clearing Services Co., Ltd. is a designated clearing institution approved by the People's Bank of China (PBC) and one of China's payment and clearing financial infrastructures. The company acts on the PBC's important plan for its development orientation, guided by the strategy of urban financial services, focusing on its core clearing business, strictly adhering to business boundaries, conducting in-depth and meticulous operations, rigorously managing risk prevention, ensuring business security, strengthening data security management, continuously improving payment and clearing services for small and medium-sized financial institutions, and effectively supporting the PBC's functions.

The company's original data collection and statistical billing system gradually encountered performance bottlenecks as business grew, with longer response times for data aggregation and statistics. Using this system as a pilot, City Bank Clearing initiated the selection of a domestic database and began a phased replacement.

Solutions

To build its data aggregation and statistical billing platform, City Banks Clearing & Settlement Co., Ltd. deployed the GBase 8a MPP Cluster—a massively distributed parallel database system. This enabled loading source-system business data into the platform and migrating periodic reports and related queries from legacy business systems.

Results

  • High Performance: After database replacement, the system breaks through previous performance bottlenecks, delivering fast response times for aggregated statistics and boosting operational efficiency.

  • Full Technology Sovereignty: The GBase 8a database cluster is fully developed in-house by General Data Technology, backed by multiple patents, ensuring complete technology independence and control.

  • Homegrown Ecosystem Compatibility: GBase 8a is compatible with China’s domestically developed software and hardware, laying a solid foundation for a comprehensive transition to local alternatives.
