Prison Administration System Upgrade Project for Anhui Province Prison Administration Bureau
Project Overview
1. Project Background
The Anhui Provincial Prison Administration System is the core IT platform used by the Anhui Provincial Prison Administration Bureau to manage prison operations across the province. Core functions include inmate management, prison intelligence management, admission education, and labor assignment. The system encompasses one provincial bureau and prison platforms across 20 cities, serving over 5,000 users.
2. Key Concerns
To enhance prison management, elevate the level of information management, and improve work efficiency, the customer needed to upgrade the existing single-node database to a high-concurrency, high-availability clustered architecture with disaster recovery.
3. Requirements
The original prison administration system employed GBase 8s, a secure database from General Data Technology (GBase) that emphasizes database security management. As part of this upgrade, the system had to address new business requirements—high-concurrency access, stability, high availability, and load balancing—by migrating to a more suitable database product.
Implementation Plan
This project leverages the GBase 8s transactional database from General Data Technology to upgrade and modernize the system’s data layer. Designed to handle high concurrency and deliver exceptional availability, the database meets the operational demands of the Anhui prison administration system. The deployment uses an SSC shared-disk scalable cluster architecture for data-layer high availability, HAC (High Availability Data Replication) between primary and standby nodes for intra-city disaster recovery, and a remote standalone HAC backup for geo-redundancy. With GBase 8s’s comprehensive clustering capabilities, the prison achieves robust database high availability — even under various failure scenarios the cluster recovers services within 30 seconds, minimizing business downtime.
Application Results
High concurrency capacity ensures normal system operation
Ensuring data security and availability:
GBase 8s’s self-healing capabilities prevent data loss even during power outages; its SSC (Shared Storage Cluster) high-availability solution enables seamless failover from the primary to the secondary node in the event of an unexpected interruption, ensuring business continuity.
Enhancing comprehensive utilization of prison information:
By upgrading the system with GBase 8s, a province-wide prison administration system was built, enabling centralized data management and resource sharing. This significantly improved the application of information technology in prison law enforcement, security, offender rehabilitation, and other operations.
