Solutions

In this solution, General Data Technology (GBase) deploys GBase 8a MPP Cluster as the back-end database cluster system for CSTNET's operation, maintenance, and management. It loads data at high speed from sources such as CSTNET's operation management, internet access services, and scientific research data centers into the GBase 8a MPP Cluster. The system then performs queries to calculate traffic by specified source IP, protocol, and destination IP, counts access frequencies, and generates network monitoring and analysis data. Leveraging a shared-nothing architecture with columnar storage, efficient compression, and intelligent indexing, GBase 8a MPP Cluster provides robust technical support for complex queries and analytics, such as network-wide monitoring.


Requirements Analysis

For large-scale network monitoring and analysis systems, the solution must deliver efficient compression, storage, and management of 100TB-scale traffic data, support over 1,000 concurrent queries with sub-second response times, and enable complex statistical query analysis on traffic data.

China's Next Generation Internet Demonstration Project (CNGI) is a national strategic initiative. The China Science and Technology Network (CSTNET), one of the six backbone networks, is operated by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. CSTNET is a national backbone network comprising thirteen regional sub-centers, including Beijing and Shanghai, with multiple international links to various countries and high-speed interconnections to China’s major internet service providers. Its services cover CSTNET operations and management, internet access, research data centers, and more. With data traffic already in the hundreds of terabytes and continuing to explode, the existing database systems can no longer effectively support analytics workloads such as massive internet information storage and network traffic monitoring.
