Tianjin Smart Heping Data Center Project — Cloud Architecture Supporting Smart City Application Demonstration
Key Benefits
l Service Enhancement:Using columnar storage, parallel computing, and other technologies to improve query efficiency for analytical applications by 10 to 100 times, combining BI with 3D GIS systems for data analysis and visualization to help users uncover hidden value in data, assisting district leadership and departments at all levels in decision-making;
l Efficient Storage:Enabling highly efficient storage, loading, querying, and management of district-wide household registration population data, macroeconomic data, key commercial building data, and more;
l High Cost-Effectiveness:Using an open hardware platform based on PC servers, the cost is significantly lower than minicomputer + traditional database solutions.
Solutions
As shown in the system architecture diagram, supported by the cloud architecture, GBase uses the GBase 8a MPP Cluster database as the foundational storage platform for its information resource repository, achieving unified storage and management of district-wide population data. By integrating data from departments such as family planning and civil affairs through a unified data collection system, it builds thematic databases covering resource directories, specialty data, and official document policies. Through cloud service layer components like GIS and catalog services, it supports applications at the application system layer including population GIS services, population data processing, data sharing, and decision-making for leadership. The cloud management layer provides cloud computing, cloud storage, and cloud security support for the systems and devices at the data collection layer.
Requirements Analysis
To enable data resource sharing, exchange and integration, a district-wide population-themed data warehouse should be built on a cloud storage foundation, effectively supporting applications such as BI and GIS. Through ad-hoc queries, multidimensional analysis and interactive reports, it provides more effective and intuitive technical capabilities and a basis for scientific analysis and decision-making by district leaders and departments at all levels.
Project Background
Tianjin's 12th Five-Year Plan sets the strategic goal of fully implementing the Scientific Outlook on Development and advancing the deep integration of informatization, industrialization, urbanization, internationalization, and marketization. In response to the city's informatization strategy, Heping District launched the Smart Heping Data Center Platform, designed to enable sharing, exchange, and integration of population-related government data resources district-wide. It aims to support evidence-based decision-making for district leadership and all departments, and to serve as a pilot demonstration for implementing a full-coverage population management system.
