Hainan Social Security Cloud Platform Project——Supporting Complex Query and Statistics for the Human Resources and Social Security Industry

Currently, various industries are actively exploring the application of new technologies such as cloud computing and big data in IT system development. The Hainan Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security is also actively exploring and

Value Proposition

lHigh Performance: Loading and aggregation speeds are 10-20x faster than traditional databases, with over 99.6% of SQL queries executing within 1 second.

lIntelligent Indexing: Automatically creates intelligent indexes on all data, automatically optimizes query performance, and the intelligent index occupies less than 1% of storage space, with minimal storage overhead.

lLow Cost: Leverages low-cost x86 PC servers, effectively reducing hardware expenditure.

lHigh Scalability: Supports online linear scaling to accommodate future data growth and business expansion.

Solutions

Built the Hainan Social Security query database using GBase 8a MPP Cluster with 4 nodes, currently holding 2 TB of data. Efficient compressed storage preserves detailed data long-term, while social security data is rapidly loaded into GBase 8a MPP Cluster via data loaders. During loading, the database cluster automatically creates Smart Indexes for all data, dramatically optimizing query performance. The Smart Index occupies less than 1% of data storage, having virtually no impact on storage efficiency.

After loading, social security data supports various queries and statistics, including contribution detail queries, contributor count statistics, contribution amount statistics, refund statistics, offset statistics, and more. Leveraging GBase 8a MPP Cluster’s high-performance query and computing power, it delivers fast responses to business operations.

Requirements Analysis

The Hainan Human Resources and Social Security Department needed to load massive social insurance datasets and enable fast multi-dimensional queries on detailed records. With such huge data volumes, the database had to deliver excellent compression. At the same time, indexes must not significantly occupy system storage, ensuring high storage efficiency.

Project Background

Currently, various industries are actively exploring the application of new technologies such as cloud computing and big data in their IT initiatives. The Hainan Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security is also actively exploring and trialing these technologies in the construction of the second phase of the Hainan Golden Insurance Project. This provincial centralized social security system is the core and most critical component of the second phase of the Hainan Golden Insurance Project. The goal of this system is to build a secure, reliable, advanced, and efficient province-wide unified centralized social security system, and to achieve full coverage of social security services and insured individuals. The project scope includes a core business processing system that integrates multiple social insurance schemes, and an online service system providing internet-based services for insured individuals.
